Strangely Satisfied
03:37

In your vision for the past
I’m the villain never cast
Out here every night
Swallowing my pride
Strangely satisfied as only I can be
When you’re joking on the square
It’s as though you never cared
Standing in my light
Swallowing my pride
Strangely satisfied as only I can be
Love can give you rope enough to lay you low I know x2
Love can give you rope I know
I want to be a speck
Breathing in a different atmosphere
On a screened in deck
A million light years away from here
Out there every night
Swallowing my pride
Strangely satisfied as only I can be

Good Intentions
04:03
|
|||
Last night's laughs & forgotten glances
Seems strange to me now I was taking chances
Party-time wishes & well-intentioned french kisses
Made me want to stay sober for a while
In a world of good intentions
All my intuitions fail me now
In this roomful of distractions
Trying for some action
But I'll take my bow
Five o'clock in the morning but my clock says noon
It hasn't worked since half past last June
The table's a mess and the curtain's full of holes
That's how I saw through you late last night
In a world of good intentions
All my intuitions fail me now
In this roomful of distractions
Trying for some action
But I'll take my bow
You & him were walking around but that's not why I'm down
See you later when the carnival's back in town
With your three-ring charms and your ghost-clock alarms
Keeping me up at all hours of the night
In a world of good intentions
All my intuitions fail me now
In this roomful of distractions
Trying for some action
But I'll take my bow

Myrna Loy

It’s all a ploy
You’re no Myrna Loy
But your gimlet is mean anyway
I get annoyed
‘cause you’re so adroit
at making black and white seem gray
Your wit is barbed
But the competition’s charged
With the words of Dashiell and Lillian
And all my scars
are supporting rebar
for the lab testing your parts per billion
I’m no defective drunk smartass bedwetter
And you’re not, no you’re no Myrna Loy
We don’t solve crime
We don’t spend our time
hosting elite soirees
But we desire
the life of the high-wire
of the idle rich at play
I’m a reflection or is that too meta?
And you’re not, no you’re no Myrna Loy
I’m a detective, not a wisecrack jet-setter
And you’re not, no you’re no
You’re no Myrna Loy
